About Me
Meet Wednesday: A former art teacher focusing on her own artistic expression. Now, a corporate meeting planner by day, two-dimensional artist by night.
I enjoy working in a variety of media and styles. I have a combination of formal education & self-taught techniques. Starting out as a three-dimensional sculpture and ceramics major, I eventually ventured into the world of painting. I have always been interested in the arts. Starting with a childhood filled with doodles & sidewalk chalk, to making elaborate Chainmaille jewelry for friends and lately, working with watercolors. My work results from a mishmash of influences (both artistic and cultural). Most of my influence comes from people-watching in everyday life as well as the Renaissance Fairs I attend yearly. I love incorporating inspiration that is drawn from anywhere & everywhere I happen to be. |
Influences
|
I find influence in art from across the eras, from Renaissance and Baroque to Modern art. I love wandering throughout art museums or galleries and reflecting on what speaks to me.
Some of my favorite artists are: Rene Magritte, Salvador Dali, Edvard Munch, Chuck Close, Jackson Pollock. I often find myself completely bewitched by music and literature as well, pulling inspiration from all forms of art. One of the biggest influences and inspirations for me is emotion. Reaching inside myself and using art as a way to communicate what I am feeling, typically results in one of my abstract pieces. Using abstract art fueled by my emotion is my way of breaking through the strict regulation chains that I am bonded by during the day and helps me release what I am experiencing in that moment to the rest of the world. My two-dimensional abstract work has both visual and mentally engaging layers, while my three-dimensional work adds a tactile element as well. |
